Wendi Lane is an EMMY award-winning journalist with more than 10 years of experience as a reporter. She’s also a winner of the 2021 Multimedia Journalist Florida Broadcasting Association Award for large market television.

Wendi is a small-town girl from Greenfield, Iowa. During her career as a journalist she’s worked at KCCI, Des Moines, IA; KCWY, Casper, WY; FOX26, Fresno, CA; and has called Florida her home since starting at ABC Action News in 2017.

In her career, Wendi has covered wildfires, floods, mudslides, tornados, tropical storms, and of course hurricanes. She traveled to the Bahamas to cover the horrific aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. Wendi has covered issues all over the Bay Area from Hernando and Citrus counties to Manatee and Sarasota and everywhere in between.

Her favorite things to cover are environmental issues, animal stories, and any story showing positivity and hope. Wendi also has a deep passion for telling the stories of veterans in honor of her late father who was a Vietnam veteran and struggled with PTSD and addiction. Wendi recently went back to school and received an additional degree in Christian Ministry.

She enjoys traveling and has done mission work in South Africa and humanitarian work in Honduras. When she’s not working, she enjoys hanging out with her basset hound Millie, running, going to the beach, and, most importantly, spending time in her faith.
