TAMPA, Fla. — The World Meteorological Organization is responsible for naming hurricanes. They have six lists of storm names that they recycle every six years.

The names get reused, unless the hurricane does exponential damage. For example, Katrina, Sandy, Harvey, Florence and Michael are all retired names.
