FLORIDA — AAA is not releasing a Memorial Day travel forecast this year for the first time in two decades.
Officials say the economic data used to make the forecast has been affected by the coronavirus.
However, informal reports project fewer people will be hitting the road compared to previous years.
Paula Twidale, AAA Travel senior vice president, says 43 million Americans traveled for Memorial Day weekend in 2019.
Nearly 31 million people traveled over Memorial Day weekend in 2009, marking the lowest number since AAA tracking began in 2000.
The forecast is expected to return next year.
