The USF softball team will begin playing in the American Conference Tournament next week without one of their own.
Sophomore infielder Meredith Bissette is battling cancer.
Bissette was dealing with lower back soreness earlier in the spring, but an MRI after Easter weekend showed a tumor on her pelvis. Doctors diagnosed Meredith with Chordoma cancer.
According to the Chordoma Foundation, only one in 1 million people are diagnosed each year with Chordoma cancer.
The Bulls are doing their part to help Meredith and her family.
They set up a GoFundMe.com page to help raise money for Meredith.
The team is also hosting a fundraiser for her family on Sunday, May 8 at the softball stadium. The “MereBearStrong Home Run Derby” will begin at 4:30. Anyone can donate money or items for the silent auction.
