TAMPA, Fla. — 'The Weeknd' will be performing the halftime show during Super Bowl LV in Tampa on Sunday, February 6.

So far, he is the only performer that has been announced for the Pepsi Halftime Show. No special guests have been announced.

If you didn't know, 'The Weeknd" has been dominating the charts for the past several years.

His latest album titled "After Hours" dropped in 2020 and broke several streaming records.

Here are a few facts you should know about 'The Weeknd' before his Super Bowl LV Halftime performance:

  1. His first real hit album was called "Beauty Behind the Madness" released in 2015.
  2. He is from Toronto, Canada, but his parents moved from Ethiopia in the '80s!
  3. He's had a lot of famous girlfriends (ever heard of Selena Gomez, or his current beau Bella Hadid?)
  4. He's an Aquarius. Born on February 16, 1990.
  5. His real name is not 'The Weeknd' (shocker) but much easier to pronounce than Abel Makonnen Tesfaye (his birth name).
  6. He never finished high school.
  7. His newest album "After Hours" broke the record for most global pre-adds on Apple Music. That's over 1.02 million users according to Apple.
  8. "After Hours" was released in March 2020.
