TAMPA — Super Bowl Sunday and lots of food go hand in hand whether you are tailgating outside the stadium or watching at home.
At Alessi Bakery in Tampa, the line is out the door on the day before the big game.
“Everybody is ready to have all their goodies and have their game day tomorrow," said Melissa Thoele, who heads up the cake decorating department.
Here you’ll find lots of Super Bowl sweet treats.
From custom cakes to frosted footballs.
“The Brady #12 cookie is very popular, said Thoele.
Every grocery store around has its own Super Bowl section.
Some shoppers keep it simple, others a little fancier.
“We are going to do pigs in a blanket. Flank steak with chimichurri. And I got some sausages for brats," said Todd Migacz.
But the busiest place this weekend besides the stadium is your neighborhood pizza joint.
“We have so many orders that have already been placed," said Eric Bush, owner of Sam’s New York Pizza in New Port Richey.
Bush says they'll serve up double the number of pizzas and four-times the chicken wings as a normal Sunday.
“We will be prepping all day from 8 in the morning until about 3 in the afternoon, just to get ready for three hours of craziness," said Bush.
There’s actually been a chicken wing shortage recently, so restaurants have had a tough time stocking up.
Bush told me he’s having to pay about 15% more to buy wings, but he’s not raising his prices.
By the way, you can start your diet Monday.
