TAMPA, Fl. — Two days ahead of a historic Super Bowl in Tampa, fans geared up for the game downtown. That included Larry Gasparino. He’s the 2020 fan of the year for the Buccaneers.
“I’ve been wanting all my life to go to a Buccaneer’s Super Bowl and this is like a dream come true. It’s like first I found out I was Buccaneer fan of the year, then we made it to go to the Super Bowl in our own stadium, our team and I’m gonna get to be there,” he said.
The same day he scored tickets, he headed to the Super Bowl Experience at Curtis Hixon Park, complete with his fan of the year jersey.
“The Buccaneers are our team. It’s not just a football team that you watch during football season they’re our team, we’ve got to be proud of them, support them, love them all year long,” he said.
He said he became a fan watching the games with his father. Since then, he’s amassed a collection of Bucs memorabilia and pride only a true fan could.
“Their my team as if I treat them they’re one of my kids,” he said. Fans downtown got the chance to listen to music, eat food, take photos and watch a fireworks show of the Jose Gasparilla ship. “Tt was kind of like we had to come out it was like once in a lifetime,” said Jonise Townsel.
“We wouldn’t miss it for anything. This is a historic moment,” said Jonathan Townsel. The two just moved back to Tampa, their hometown, this week. So with the big game around the corner, fans soaked in the moments unlike any other in Tampa.
