ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays have placed star outfielder Austin Meadows on the Injured List (IL) on Thursday after he had tested positive for coronavirus.
The team did not specify if the 25-year-old outfielder suffered COVID-19 symptoms or if he is asymptomatic.
Meadows becomes the second known Rays player to test positive for the virus. Teammate and pitcher Tyler Glasnow revealed that he had tested positive for the virus, forcing him to show up late for the 2020 MLB Summer Camp.
The Rays have added Aaron Loup to the MLB roster following the move.
