TAMPA, Fla. -- Coronavirus hits home for Florida State University offensive lineman Andrew Boselli and his family.

“Trust me, no one wants to get this disease. No one,” Boselli said.

The FSU redshirt senior was tested for coronavirus on March 21. He felt fine, until he woke up the next day.

“(I was) a whole different person. I was sore, I could barely get around, I was achy, cranky,” Boselli described. “Then that night when the fever set in, I think was the only time when I was genuinely scared was that night when my sickness was most severe.”

He only took the test because his father, former Jacksonville Jaguar Tony Boselli, tested positive for COVID-19.

“My dad had the most severe symptoms, a stint in the ICU,” Boselli said. “He had trouble breathing, didn’t get put on a ventilator but was on the highest level of oxygen.”

“It was frustrating,” he said of his dad’s condition. “He seemed to be doing better, being his normal self, around family, then he can’t breath. It really makes it scary.”

Andrew’s symptoms were considered mild with a fever spiking to 103. His brother also had a similar experience and their mother lost her sense of smell.

After a 14-day recovery period of self-isolation, Andrew wants to spread awareness and encourage social distancing.

“It sounded like a buzz word. It didn’t sound like anything real to me,” he said. “It didn’t seem like it would be something that would effect me at all.”
