TAMPA, Fla -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping it's lucky number seven that propels John Lynch to Canton.
The Buccaneers legend was among the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2020. This will be the seventh year in a row Lynch was included in the shortlist.
Lynch could be the fourth longtime Buccaneer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. If elected, the longtime defensive back joins Tampa Bay legends Lee Roy Selmon, Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks.
Five of the fifteen finalists will be chosen for the 2020 class on February 1, 2020. You can click here for the full list of finalists joining Lynch.
Lynch had been named to the Pro Bowl nine times and made All-Pro twice. He helped the Bucs win the team's only Super Bowl in 2002.
He was inducted into the ring of honor for both the Bucs and the Denver Broncos. The 48-year-old is now the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers (13-3), who are looking to win their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.
