FLORIDA — While more than 20 million Americans have filed for unemployment in recent weeks, Taking Action Reporter Jackie Callaway found some companies are hiring right now for those who find themselves out of work.

“Right now, I want you to focus on getting any job,” said Anthony ONeal, a personal finance expert and author. “It may not be attractive. It may not be something you are super excited about.”

A review of job listings found:

  • Tech employers Zoom, Slack and Microsoft Teams are looking to hire
  • Grocery stores, including Publix, Aldi and Sprouts, are seeking help
  • Pharmacies, such as CVS and Walgreens, are accepting applications
  • Delivery driver positions are open at Chipotle, Pizza Hut, Postmates and Shipt

There are also part-time job listings currently for freelance writing or editing, social media support, as well as web and graphic design.

Although these jobs may not be your current dream gig, ONeal told ABC Action News it’s as important as ever to do your research before applying.

“Know a little bit about the company, and when you walk into that interview, be professional but be authentic to yourself,” said ONeal.

Many of these positions can be applied for online, and right now, many employers are being inundated with applications.

Employment experts say applicants should be persistent – but not a pest – and follow up on their application no more than twice a week.
