CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Area salon owners are asking clients to call and ask about procedures designed to keep both customers and stylists safe during a service. This is all in an effort to help clients feel more secure when coming in to get a beauty service.

Joanna Patterson is the owner of several Supercuts salons across the Tampa Bay area. In the time that Florida has allowed salons to reopen, Supercuts has implemented several new safety procedures in order to protect everyone.

Mask wearing is now required at all Supercuts salons for both clients and stylists.

Additionally, there are heightened cleaning and sanitation procedures in place and social distancing requirements. Stylists are now required to be six-feet apart and set up in every other station.

"We also mandated that the lobby of our salon is closed," Patterson said. "So we encourage everyone that wants to schedule an appointment with us to go to our Supercuts online app. That way they can check in see what the wait times and then they can pick their favorite stylist you know, and have their services for their haircut and their color services."

The salon has also halted some services in the name of safety.

"Any type of services that are going to be coming close to a guest face, like waxing, or a mustache or beard trim, has been suspended for the time being," Patterson said.

Patterson said it's a good idea to call your stylist in any salon you may go to ahead of your appointment if you have questions about their safety procedures.
