TAMPA, Fla. -- With more people than ever working from home right now as we wait for a rebound, ABC Action News went to a design expert for a few tips to create a beautiful and cozy home work space, or spruce up the one you already have.
Camelia Castillo with Castillo Tampa Homes sells and stages homes for a living. She says incorporating these elements will help make your environment more peaceful.
Natural light is your friend.
The brighter the space, the more energy you will have and the better you will feel, according to Castillo.
Find a room with lots of windows, and additionally use a desktop or floor lamp to increase the visibility of the work on your desk. This minimizes the strain on your eyes, Castillo said.
If there is only one window, she says to use mirrors to bounce light around the room.
Position your desk with a nice view.
Try to face a window so you can enjoy some natural landscape.
Add greenery.
Even fake plants will boost your mood, according to Castillo.
Create comfort.
Don’t go for the trendy and stiff chair for your office, but instead find the most comfortable chair in your house, Castillo said. She also recommends adding to the ambiance with candles.
Declutter.
She also recommends decluttering and organizing the space and your desk to minimize stress.
Add pops of color.
Artwork, new curtains or even colorful office supplies will liven up your space.
