TAMPA, Fla. -- A group of passionate volunteers is working to better connect businesses in Seminole Heights with customers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"Here in Seminole Heights, everyone is so about supporting local; shopping local, eating local, drinking local," said Cassie Plumridge.
Plumridge helped launch "Open in the Heights," a one-stop site that updates what is open, hours of operation, even how to order.
It also allows users to search for specific food within the Tampa Heights and Seminole Heights areas.
"It’s really cool I think to see a need in the community and be able to help fill it," said Plumridge.
For businesses now shifting day-to-day operations in response to COVID-19, it's a game-changer.
"It’s been a great tool to use to be in the know," said Ashley Cantero, who works for Hampton Station Pizzeria. "They know and understand how important all these small businesses are just to the overall vibe of our community."
The site also features information on businesses outside of food and drink options. Consumers can find help with laundry, home improvement, and tutoring services.
"We wanted to get something built, something live as quickly as possible," said David Routen. "We have no idea how long this is going to last."
As of Monday, there are nearly 80 local businesses listed on Open in the Heights.
