ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Great Explorations Children's Museum is a long-time staple in Pinellas County.

During its 33 years in existence, museum officials have never had to deal with something like the COVID-19. They are trying to overcome the difficulties of surviving during a pandemic.

To help make ends meet, the museum is hosting a virtual fundraiser called STEAM Punk: A Victorian Virtual Gala.

The September 12 event will be filled with special guests, a band and auction items.

"We want people to realize that we're all in this to bring back the programming and the museum and to rebuild," says museum CEO Angeline Howell. "The way the night is, it's an hour long and we're hoping to entertain everyone with some special guest appearances."

ABC Action News got a sneak peek of the costumes and some special activities the museum has planned. It wouldn't be a STEAM gala without science, technology, engineering and math activities.

Funds raised will hopefully help restart some of Great Exploration's programs lost when COVID-19 hit.

Tickets start at just $35. Upgrades like dinner and wine are available. Click here to learn more or buy tickets.
