USF St. Pete trains future teachers in virtual reality, other technology

Students in USF St. Petersburg's education program are getting new tools to help them in the classroom. 

The school just opening its brand new STEM lab in the College of Education. 

The lab features all kinds of neat tools like, robots, 3-D printers, Virtual and Augmented reality, will help students incorporate STEM into their curriculum. 

Experts say these types of tools are vital for aspiring teachers. 

"To teach students that they can go anywhere in the world and they can expose their students to that when they get in the classroom," says Allyson Leggett Watson, Dean of the College of Education at USF St. Pete. 

The public will have an opportunity to get a look inside this weekend. 

There will be an open house on Saturday during St. Pete's Science Festival. 

The event will be from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Coquina Building.
