The Apopka Police Department said a severe storm hit the area Tuesday around 8:30 p.m., knocked out the power to the building and damaged multiple electrical transformers.

Surveillance video was rolling when lightning hit the area, causing a large flash.

A police canine officer was next to his vehicle at the time of the strike but retreated to his vehicle and was unharmed.

Firefighters responded to the police department because of a haze in the building after the lightning strike, but no damage or fire was located.

No was hurt and no emergency services were interrupted.
