Deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office rescued a man from a 35-40 foot deep well in DeLand early Wednesday morning.
The man and his two friends decided they wanted to check out the well on their neighbor's property and took turns climbing in and out of the empty old well, according to deputies. The man who got stuck was trying to get out of the narrow well when the rope to pull him back out broke and he wasn't able to get back out. One of the men called 911 and said "we're on my neighbor's property and I was showing my friend the well that he has and we decided to climb down it and now my friend is stuck at the bottom." The Volusia County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department responded to the scene.
The man was rescued and pulled to safety after approximately 40 minutes in the well. He got out with a few scratches and was treated on scene.
