The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the South Florida Water Management District are bringing back the Python Challenge in 2020.
The challenge is a conservation effort intended to help protect the rare Everglades habitat from invasive Burmese pythons.
"The Python Challenge™ is designed to spread knowledge about Burmese pythons in Florida, encourage the continued removal of these snakes by the public, and highlight the importance of responsible pet ownership so nonnative species such as Burmese pythons are not released into the wild," the website for the event says.
FWC and SFWMD are teaming up with the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee and the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida for the Python Bowl. The event, which is sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, kicks off on January 10.
On January 25, the results of the challenge will be announced and winners will be awarded their prizes. The two top winners will take home TRACKER Off Road 570 ATVs.
