TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Attorney General Ashley Moody launched a new resource for Floridians to protect themselves against fraud.

The program, Scams at a Glance, gives information about common and emerging scams. The program also gives tips to teach people how to avoid falling for the scammers.

Moody says avoiding these scams are especially important considering we're in the middle of a pandemic.

"The new program is a tool of knowledge against common scams so that Floridians and their loved ones will be protected as we continue to battle the coronavirus," she said in a press release.

Some general signs of common scams include*:

  • Unsolicited calls or emails
  • High-pressure tactics or too-good-to-be-true offers
  • Threats of loss if immediate action is not taken
  • Requests for immediate payment by wire transfer, credit, prepaid debit or gift cards.

*= information taken from the Attorney General's Office's press release.
