A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is launching the Dragon cargo spacecraft toward the International Space Station today.

According to space.com, this is SpaceX's 14th cargo launch and the spacecraft will be carrying nearly 3 tons of experiments and supplies.

WATCH LIVE AT 4:30 P.M.

The launch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from Cape Canaveral.

When it arrives at the space station Wednesday, the craft will be grappled and unloaded by the crew at the space station.

The cargo craft will deliver more than 5,800 lbs. of food, gear and other supplies.

Once installed, an Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor will be outside the space station to survey severe thunderstorms and monitor upper-atmosphere lightning.
