A convicted sex offender in the country illegally was sentenced Friday to 30 months in federal prison.
Isidro Diaz-Sanchez, 31, had previously been deported from the United States in October 2015 after he was designated as an ‘aggravated felon.’ Investigators say he re-entered the country in January and was subsequently located in Hardee County.
Per a Department of Justice report Diaz-Sanchez was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a minor child in North Carolina over two years ago, thus, he was required to register as a sex offender for 30 years.
Authorities in Hardee County arrested him earlier this year for giving false information to law enforcement and resisting arrest charges. A review of the state’s sex offender database showed Diaz-Sanchez had failed to register.
This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations.
Diaz-Sanchez is currently in the Pinellas County Jail as authorities determine where he will serve his sentence.
