TAMPA, Fla. — A fiery car crash damaged a Tampa motel early Thursday morning.
Just after 2:30 a.m., two cars crashed at the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and N. St. Vincent Street.
Authorities say a driver made an improper lane change and hit the second car.
The second car then struck a utility power pole, causing a power outage to over 1,400 nearby homes and businesses.

The first car continued on for a block and crashed into the Sunny South Motel where it caught fire.
The female driver, who declined to give her name, made it out of her car before it was engulfed in flames. She said the crash occurred as she was driving to work. She is not sure how the crash occurred.
The hotel suffered minor damage in the crash. The building did not catch on fire. People staying in the hotel evacuated their rooms as a precaution.
The people in the second car suffered minor injuries but declined to be transported to the hospital.
Police do not believe alcohol is a factor in the crash.
