Ten free “lounges” complete with an art-deco design, palm-tree landscaping, bike tools and pumps are now in place along the Courtney Campbell Trail on Hillsborough County side of the causeway. They offer a gorgeous views of Tampa Bay.

The joint project between the county, the city of Tampa and the Florida Department of Transportation cost almost $1 million.

Joggers, walkers and cyclists are already loving the comfort stations. Here is a map and more information on the 10-mile trail: www.traillink.com/trail/courtney-campbell-trail/.

“I saw that they built these, so we started biking this trail about two weeks ago,” says Jack Pohl, who used one of the new bike pumps when his tire got flat.

Future plans include more lounges and other features on the Pinellas County side of the Courtney Campbell Trail.

The lounges are open sunrise to sundown, and are also idea for picnics, shade from fishing in the heat and more.
