An armed gunman showing up at your place of business or in a public place is a sad reality today. If you encounter an active shooter, do you know the best way to react so that you increase your chances of staying alive?

The South Tampa Chamber and the Tampa Police Department are hosting an Active Shooter Seminar on Thursday.

A Tampa Police officer will provide safety tips and give you do's and don'ts if you ever encounter an active shooter.

The event is free and open to the public but attendees are asked to register in advance because seating is limited.

The event is from 8:00am.-930a.m. at the Stageworks Theater at 1120 E Kennedy Blvd in Tampa
