ST. PETERSBURG, Fla -- Police are investigating an attempted murder-suicide on Sunday evening.
Officers say a 29-year-old man shot a 29-year-old woman in front of a home along 6th Street South in St. Petersburg. Jasima McKinnie was transported to the hospital and is listed in serious condition at Bayfront Health.
Police say Marty Zerrell Stone, Jr. then walked to Sunrise and 4th Street South and turned the gun on himself, committing suicide.
Detectives say the Stone and McKinnie were in an on-again and off-again relationship. Police have not released the names of the man and the woman at this time.
Officers say that this shooting is not connected to an earlier shooting on M.L.K. Street South.
