Less than a month after Walmart announced a decision to close the Neighborhood Market located on 22nd Street South in St. Petersburg, the store has officially closed its doors to customers.
Walmart says they had hoped to remain open until early March but they sold through the product in the store and they have to transition to the next phase of the store closing process.
The story was officially closed to the public on Monday, February 6, 2017. Signs were posted on the front door of the location that read "This Walmart Store is now closed." Lists of nearby locations were also posted on the front doors.
Walmart says all but a handful of their store employees at the St. Pete location were able to transfer to another store as soon as this week.
The pharmacy was closed to the public on February 1 and the staff worked to transfer prescriptions to other locations for customers. At this time, more than 80% of prescriptions have been transferred to another location.
