ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg is in need of wreaths to honor fallen veterans.

Wreaths Across America will be at the cemetery on Dec. 15 at noon to 'remember and honor veterans through the laying of remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.'

For this to be possible, the organization is asking for people to sponsor wreaths or volunteer to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony.

As of Nov. 28, 2018, 1,487 wreaths have been sponsored, accounting for 4 percent of the goal amount. However, there are still 32,513 wreaths left to be sponsored.

The cost to sponsor a wreath is $15. They are hand-crafted of all-American balsam and hand-tied with a red velvet bow.
