ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Every Friday ABC Action News tries to find homes for dogs in local shelters in our Pet of the Week segment.

You have an opportunity this week to bring a unique dog named Dharma your home. She is a smart two-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix.

According to the American Kennel Club, terriers are intelligent, good-natured dogs who are excellent guardians.

Dharma is full of love and energy despite the recent amputation of her left front leg due to a congenital deformity. Shelter workers would love to find a family able to invest the time necessary to train her.

Upon adoption, a group training class will be offered by Pet Pal's certified trainer, Pat McCarthy of Dawgs Dig It, to provide guidance in leadership skills for all family members at no cost.

Dharma is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed. You must own your home to adopt her.

For more information about how to adopt Dharma or other animals from Pet Pal Animal Shelter, you can call them (727) 328-7738 or go online to www.petpalanimalshelter.com.
