ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- ABC Action News works with local shelters to find homes for pets through our weekly Pet of the Week feature.

This week we are featuring Chulo, a 7-year-old Chihuahua from Pet Pal Animal Shelter. "Chulo" means cute in Spanish.

According to the American Kennel Club, Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with huge personalities. They are clever canines who would love to rule your home like a little Napoleon.

Shelter workers say Chulo enjoys hanging out with people and dogs his own size. He would love a family that will give him lots of cuddles and exercise, and would do best in a home with no small children.

Chulo is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Because of a thyroid condition, he will require medication for life. His adoption fee is $200.

For more information about how to adopt Chulo or other animals from Pet Pal Animal Shelter, you can call them (727) 328-7738 or go online to www.petpalanimalshelter.com.

Pet Pal Animal Shelter is located at 405 22nd Street South Street in St. Petersburg. You can visit all their dogs and cats up for adoption Tuesdays to Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 to 4:30 p.m.
