Pinellas Park Police are investigating a murder. Officers say an adult male was shot and killed inside the Park Plaza Apartments, at 5051 75th Avenue North.
Police are still trying to figure out exactly what unfolded inside the victim's apartment Sunday afternoon. No neighbors heard arguing or gun shots.
Detectives only learned the shooting happened when the suspect called Treasure Island Police to say he'd killed someone. Police there met with him and then called Pinellas Park Police, when they learned the crime happened there.
Once officers got to the Park Plaza Apartments, the victim's door was unlocked, and they found him shot to death inside. The suspect and victim are family members.
"The suspect is cooperating at this point, so we're hoping to get a better understanding as to why this happened, but certainly this is not a way to resolve any type of issue," said Sgt. Michael Lynch with the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Detectives are continuing to question the suspect. His identity has not been released yet. The victim's identity will not be released until his family has been notified.
