RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A mother in Riverview is taking action against a repeat porch pirate with a creative way to help curb the holiday crime.

Heather Feuerbach was fed up with someone stealing her dog's medication off the family's front porch.

It happened in October and again in November.

"I was bitter. I was definitely bitter," said Feuerbach.

She saw the crime go down via her Ring Video Doorbell.

She decided to play a prank on the unknown suspect by planting a phony package on her front porch.

"I decided to collect some of my dog’s poop and store it in a package and I sealed it up so that you couldn’t smell it immediately," said Feuerbach. "He’d have a nice surprise when he went home.”

Feuerbach believes the same unknown suspect picked up the phony package while she was visiting family out of state. She tells ABC Action News, the porch thefts have been added stress after they recently experienced an attempted home break-in.

"I was definitely nervous and very scared," said Feuerbach. "As a newly single mom of four it was just a fear of mine that I couldn’t protect my kids and my home properly.”

It appears the poop prank is working. Feuerbach gave law enforcement surveillance video from one of the thefts.

"He hasn’t been back since so hopefully lesson learned.”
