Manatee County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested Lori Bergeron, 43, in connection with missing funds from Manatee School of Arts and Sciences.
The missing funds were discovered during a recent audit on the school’s finances.
According to police, Bergeron was President of the Board of the charter school when she cashed six school checks totaling more than $27,000. After cashing out the checks, she then exchanged the money for cashier’s checks and deposited them into her personal banking account.
Police say the incidents occurred between April 12 and June 30.
Bergeron is being charged with Scheme to Defraud over $20,000.
