BRADENTON, Fla. — Manatee County Habitat for Humanity needs help after $11,000 worth of tools were stolen from their trailer.

After working on the construction of a new Bradenton home for a single mother with two children, crews locked up the trailer and left for the evening. When they returned the next day, they found the trailer had been broken into and many power tools were stolen.

“There are better ways to get what you need. To take from us who were planning to give to others, it saddens us,” said Diana Shoemaker, Manatee Habitat for Humanity CEO.

Those tools are worth nearly 15% of the cost to build one home. Now the home that was supposed to be ready in time for the holidays likely won’t be finished until next year.
