SARASOTA, Fla. -- Several agencies responded to reports of a missing boater Thursday evening off South Lido Beach.
Crews and dive teams with the Sarasota Sheriff's Office, Sarasota Police Department, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were on scene searching the water in Big Sarasota Pass.
Authorities tell ABC Action News that one man went into the water and never resurfaced.
A patrol boat with the FWC is staying on the water to continue search efforts into the night.
It is not known if this was a group of people out of town on spring break or locals. There were several friends of the missing boater offshore watching and anxiously waiting for answers.
