SARASOTA, Fla. — Neighbors in Sarasota’s Newtown community are on edge after four shootings occurred in less than a week. All of the victim's survived their wounds but neighbors fear the shootings could turn deadly

“It’s seems that it’s getting worse instead of better,” said Pastor Ezell Patterson.

The latest shooting happened five houses down from his home. The first shooting happened last Tuesday.

The locations of the shootings were:

  • Palmadelia Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Way
  • Pershing and Dr. Martin Luther King Way
  • 1500 block of 20th Street
  • 1800 blk of 23rd Street

Sarasota Police aren’t saying if the shootings are connected, but neighbors believe the shootings are a result of a neighborhood turf war between teens and young adults.

Sarasota investigators said they will be stepping up patrols in the area, holding community meetings, and even having a gun buyback.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
