SARASOTA, Fla. — Neighbors on Alden Way in Sarasota heard frantic calls for help early Thanksgiving morning.

“There is a man screaming from the back and I immediately called 911,” said neighbor Susie Chinn.

David Rosado heard the scream and ran to the pond located in his backyard.

“I saw car lights and there was a man in the water hanging onto a tree branch,” said Rosado.

He said the man didn’t appear to be physically injured, but he was shaken up.

FHP said the man drove his car into the pond.  They are still investigating the circumstances behind the incident.

Neighbors are hoping for a guardrail to prevent this type of incident from happening again.

“Anytime someone needs help we need to come together and that’s what happened,” said Chinn.

Rosado said he was happy to help carry the man back to safety.

"I think anybody would have done the same," said Rosado.
