Sarasota schools ramping up efforts to keep schools sanitized due to coronavirus cases in Tampa Bay

SARASOTA, Fla. — Sarasota schools are ramping up efforts to keep schools clean and disinfected from the coronavirus. 

School leaders say they’re making sure disinfectant supplies are in every classroom and on school buses.

They're also paying overtime for maintenance staff to stay late and clean all surfaces.

"We’ve gone to what we’re calling an enhanced cleaning at every site so what that means is all touch points, including desktops. So we’re making sure that we’re focusing on those every night," said Jody Dumas, Sarasota Schools COO.

The Sarasota school district launched a new page on their website devoted to answering questions and providing information about the virus.
