PALMETTO, Fla. -- Police are investigating an armed robbery attempt at a Publix Supermarket in Palmetto on Tuesday.

According to the Palmetto Police Department, the suspect walked into the store, approached the customer service counter and then showed a store employee a handgun.

As the employee reacted, the suspect walked over to a nearby cash register, hit a different employee with the pistol and ran off, according to police. The suspect did not take any money or items from the store, police say.

The first employee was not hurt but a second employee hurt her head from the incident, police say.

The suspect is listed between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall, according to police. The hat he wore during the incident read "TRUCKFIT."

Authorities say the suspects in this case fit the description of suspects in an attempted armed robbery at a Bradenton Walmart on Tuesday night.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call 941-721-2000.
