MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Right now, Florida public schools are closed for two weeks, but there’s a possibility that it could be much longer.
"I’m not in a panic mode, but I’m definitely very concerned with where we’re heading," said Patterson.

Jessica Patterson has three children in school who are now at home.
"I agree with closing the schools, as much as it is difficult and a hardship for a lot of people," said Patterson.

Patterson says she plans to do hands-on learning activities with her kids while they're out of school.
"We’re going to be spending a lot of time together doing baking, and crafts and science experiments," said Patterson.
An educational company is also stepping in to help parents continue their child’s academics.
Scholastic is offering a free digital learning hub with virtual learning plans to do online from home.
Scholastic says every day includes four separate learning experiences that kids can do on their own or with a family member.
