A Manatee County Sheriff's Office Corrections Deputy who was fired after a video showed him kicking an inmate multiple times is now facing charges.
The incident happened on March 29 between former Corrections Deputy Tyler Lemond, who was 21 at the time, and an inmate.
Surveillance video of the incident was captured on video. The deputy can be seen throwing the inmate to the floor and kicking him multiple times.
On April 24, Lemond was fired from MCSO. Weeks after the incident, Lemond is charged with misdemeanor battery, according to an affidavit.
“There is no place for this type of behavior in Law Enforcement. It will not be tolerated at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Rick Wells said.
A complaint was not filed by the inmate, but suprvisors reviewed the video leading to the investigation.
He was hired as a Corrections Deputy in 2017.
