PALMETTO, Fla. — On Tuesday night, friends remember a Palmetto musician who died after a truck dragged him for more than a mile in Manatee County.

The crash happened on December 6 around 9:30 p.m. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Brad Yost was traveling eastbound on Bayshore Road in Palmetto.

A driver and passenger were traveling directly behind him in a pickup truck. Yost got out of his car and walked in the roadway. Witnesses said the pickup truck driver accelerated for some reason and dragged the victim for more than a mile.

"Brad was amazing. His smile always took us to new heights," said friend Kathy Andrews.

On Tuesday, friends and family gathered at Peggy's Corral in Palmetto. Yost played there on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Friends left messages on a guitar and played some of his favorite songs. They also released balloons with writing on it. The message on the balloons read, "Forever in our hearts you'll stay. We will love you and remember you every single day."

"Brad loved places like this, biker bars where it was loud, loud music, loud people, loud bikers. He just touched so many people every day," said friend Kianna Andrews.

His family from Ohio released the following statement, " The family would like to thank everyone from Brad's "Florida Family." All of the condolences and gestures of love for Brad have made this difficult time a little easier. We thank everyone for their support and continued love for Brad."

Troopers say they continues to investigate Yost's death. No one is facing any charges at this time.
