MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Santa arrived a little early to an event in Manatee County on Friday to bring some Christmas joy to more than 150 sick children.

Santa rolled up in a monster truck for the 34th annual “Flight to the North Pole” put on by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The event helps 150 children with terminal illnesses and disabilities. Each child and their families were able to enter a winter wonderland specially built by Feld Entertainment.

There was woodworking, crafts, a train to ride, singing, face painting, lots of treats, and even real snow to play in.

"I’m honored to have the opportunity to be part of it because it truly does make a difference in their heart even if for one day they can forget about all the struggles they’e going through, its worth it," said Rick Wells, Manatee County Sheriff.

Each child got the chance to meet Santa and received a bag of toys on their wishlist.
