“It is dry and it’s getting dryer,” said forestry spokesperson Patrick Mahoney.

He said the fires were in mostly rural areas. They burned up 175 acres of land over the weekend. Mahoney said now is the time to protect your property against wildfires.

“Right now is a great time to check your roofs and gutters, make sure there is no clutter or leaf debris, make sure plants are away from your house, so you have a defensible zone around your home,” said Mahoney.

Mahoney said no homes were destroyed in the weekend fires, but thirteen vehicles were burned.
