Legoland theme park and hotel evacuated due to bomb threat

UPDATE | At a 3 p.m. news conference Winter Haven police said they hope the bomb threat at Legoland is a hoax, but they are conducting an on-site investigation. The theme park remains closed.

ORIGINAL STORY | The Legoland theme park and hotel in Winter Haven has been evacuated due to a bomb threat. 

 

 

 

Winter Haven police say the threat was made at the property and reported at 11:54 a.m. on Thursday. All guests were safely evacuated by 12:43 p.m. 

The Winter Haven Police Department is being assisted by the State Fire Marshall and the Polk County Sheriff's Office as they search the property. 

No injuries have been reported to any staff or guests at the property. Legoland says the park will remain closed for the rest of the day, Thursday.

 

 

Legoland released a statement to ABC Action News that said:

Earlier today a bomb threat was discovered on our property. We have evacuated the theme park and hotel for the safety and security of our guests and employees - which remains our #1 priority. We are working closely with Winter Haven PD to assess the validity of the threat.
