A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Polk County.
This means that critical fire weather conditions are expected to occur on Friday due to long durations of low humidity.
If a fire develops, it will likely spread rapidly.
Officials are warning residents to not violate the burn ban which remains in effect. They say even low cut grass can catch on fire.
If you smoke, make sure you fully put out your cigarettes and keep outside cooking inside of a covered grill or pit.
If you violate the burn ban, you could be punished by a fine, not to exceed $500 or by imprisonment by a term not to exceed 60 days in the county jail or both.
Meteorologist Greg Dee says there are also red flag warnings in parts of Hernando and Manatee Counties.
