Polk County Sheriff's Office investigates an officer-involved shooting in Winter Haven

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Winter Haven on Tuesday around 11:31 a.m.

PCSO stated that Winter Haven officers responded to a call about a disturbance at 270 Kings Pond Avenue.

The first officer that arrived was speaking with a witness at the scene when two men from the residence where the disturbance occurred came outside and allegedly started shooting at each other.

The officer then fired his weapon in the direction of the aggressors due to the imminent danger to the public. The men were injured, and aid was given by officers on the scene.

According to PCSO, it is currently unknown if there were any injuries resulting from the officer firing at the men or what injuries they sustained from shooting at each other.

The two men were taken to the hospital, and their conditions are unknown. The officer is uninjured.
