LAKE WALES, Fla. — A Lake Wales couple faces charges for possession of methamphetamine and child pornography following their arrest Wednesday, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Jesse Butler, 29, and Katie Butler, 30, were arrested after the sheriff's office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They told the sheriff's office a video containing child pornography was uploaded by Jesse and sent to Katie through Facebook Messenger.
While executing a search warrant, authorities found over 40 images and videos of child porn on Katie's phone. Authorities say the images and videos depicted male and female children between the ages of 2 and 12 years old.
The sheriff's office says it's unclear at this time who the children in the images are. The couple had access to small children, but authorities say there's no indication at this time that those children were involved in the pornography.
Also during that search, authorities found drug paraphernalia and bags containing meth.
Katie has been charged with 40 counts of posses/control/view child pornography, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Jesse has been charged with posses/control/view child pornography, transmission of child pornography via electronic device, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
"At this time, the identities of the children in the images is unknown," Polk County Sheriff's Grady Judd said. "Our detectives will continue their work to determine if there are any more images, and if any of the victims are local."
