LAKELAND, Fla. — Things are heating up in Lakeland.

For the fifth year in a row, the Lakeland Fire Department teamed up with SPCA Florida for a rescue pets calendar.

The calendar features the firefighters with animals currently available for adoption.

They cost $10 each and proceeds go directly to helping rescue animals in Lakeland.

Last year's calendar grossed more than $15,000 for animals in needs.

The SPCA says the funds were used to help buy new animal oxygen masks for the department and for the treatment of animals firefighters come across at emergency scenes.

"The annual calendar is a fun and philanthropic cornerstone of the partnership. It is a great way for SPCA Florida to expand on its mission of helping animals while the Lakeland Fire Department can show its compassion and care for all of the living creatures in its community," the SPCA said.
