POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- Crews rescued a hang glider pilot who was stuck in a tree in Polk County over the weekend.
The Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a call of a hang glider crash in a swamp Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival, crews and witnesses spotted a hang glider and a lone pilot dangling 30 feet in the air on a cypress tree, according to Polk Fire Rescue.
Crews were eventually able to safely bring the hang glider pilot down. According to Polk Fire Rescue, crews were able to respond to the call, bring the hang glider pilot back to the ground, give the pilot medical evaluation and transport him to the hospital within two hours.
"This was a phenomenal example of PCFR crews taking a unique situation and executing the rescue to the highest standard," Polk Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post.
